7005 aluminum track frameset. Extra thick double-butted tubing for massive stength and stiffness. This bike is rock-solid. Brutal. Hefty removable rear fork-ends in stainless steel. Oversized top-tube for added standing-start stiffness. Huge rectangular section chainstays for added power-transfer. Strong uni-crown style fork with extra thick-walled steerer for confidence. Simple seat-post clamp wedge system allows seat-tube to be cut down if necessary. I designed this bike so that I can give it all I've got in a 2000W sprint (ok, 1860W, but I'm working on it...) on the velodrome without worrying about breaking something. 2.5G's in the turns at over 60 km/h when I'm 100 kg means lots of stress on a frame. This bike is made to take it. It's also made to be thrown around in the cargo area of a plane without getting ruined like a more delicate carbon frame would. It's heavy, but who cares; it's strong. I made this bike for the same reason I made the original steel Aliens: This is how I want my bike to be, and at a price I think is reasonable. Sure a custom bike for 2-3x the price is probably a "better" bike, but for it's intended purpose, and price, I wouldn't want anything else. This bike is for people that agree. Available in 3 sizes. Raw alu finish can be run as is, or with a lot of elbow-grease polished up nicely. Or tough powder-coat by
PowderCoatStudio.com (CLICK HERE FOR COLORS) for a
$99 upcharge and 2-4 week turn-around.
Requires 27.2mm seatpost, 120mm rear spacing, 68mm
BSC (standard) bottom bracket, 1-1/8" integrated headset.
NOTE: I have seven size 53 steel old-style Aliens left. If you want one, get it now. Email for details and special deal. For more classic style lugged steel track frames, visit vikingcycles.com.

Cranksets
Andel cold-forged track cranks
with 1/8" 144BCD 46T CNC'd chainring. 165mm, square
taper. These are nice with a nice thick chainring and
no ugly hokeyiness like the chainring mounted on the
inside of the spiders or anything like that.
For a ~42mm chainline, use a 110mm bottom bracket.

hubs
High flange cartrige
bearing hubs. These snazzy hubs are available in
front or rear, silver or black, 36 hole. The rears
are 120mm spaced and include a 1/8„ 16T cog and
lockring. The cog is not that great so if you ride
aggro (skids, etc) a high quality CNC'd cog is
suggested. These are single-sided so they are
threaded on one side only for a fixed cog and
lockring. The extra unused threads on flip-flop hubs
grate against my sensibilities. I like it clean,
fixed all the way. The axles are hollow and are
paired with nice track nuts.
Flange diameter 62mm / Rear flange to center 28mm /
Front flange to center 33mm |

cogs and chains
Quality CNC machined
1/8" track cogs. Available in 16 or 18 teeth
versions. Recommended as a tougher replacement for
the stamped cog that comes with the wheels and hubs.
If you ride aggressively, or with a small chainring
(equals high torque), these are the way to go.
A strong chain is a good thing! These chains are
good quality with a high 1000kgf yield. Nickel-plate
finish, 1/8" width. |
